1 Timothy 4:7-8 "Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some

value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present

life and the life to come."

1. Discuss the dilemna of wanting a deeper relationship with God, but the

difficulty of coming up with a plan for how to attain that desire.

-This is compounded by the fact that many of you are going into church

ministry of some sort. You will see people come into a relationship with Christ,

and you will need to know how to advise them on the growth of their relationship

with Christ.

A. How many of you want a deeper relationship with God? (I expect that

every hand will be raised)

B. How many of you have a practical plan that you are working on to fulfil

that desire for a deeper relationship?

C. What are some of the things that a plan might consist of?

Our purpose in studying the spiritual disciplines is to come up with some sort of

a plan for that spiritual growth. First of all in our own lives, and then as we

learn them, also in the lives of others that God will bring into our paths.

-the surest sign of spiritual health is the ability to reproduce that health in

the life of another.

2 Timothy 2:2 'And the things you have heard me say in the presence of

many witnesses, entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach

others.'
